Owens says his office secured $3 million in help

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Bill Owens said he helped secure nearly $3 million in 2012 for constituents seeking help through his district offices.

This assistance includes Social Security payments, veterans benefits and other due compensation that residents of the congressional district required help to secure.

In addition, Owens responded to more than 30,000 constituent concerns related to policy and legislation through mail, email and personal phone calls and reached over 27,000 constituents through town halls and tele-town hall events.

“Whether constituents have a concern about a federal policy or need assistance navigating the federal bureaucracy, I want them to know we’re here to help,” said Owens in a statement.

The announcement came the day after he attended the open house for his new district office in Glens Falls. The office at 136 Glen St. will complement existing offices in Plattsburgh and Watertown.

“I consider direct constituent service a top priority, and I rely on input from constituents to guide my work in Congress,” said Owens. “I will continue traveling the district and staying in touch, and I encourage residents of the district to do the same by calling, writing or attending a town hall meeting.”
