Superintendent search on Beekmantown Central agenda

BEEKMANTOWN — Beekmantown Central School District will meet at 4:30 pm Thursday in the Middle/High School Library. Agenda items include voting on the five vacant Champlain Valley Education Services (CVES) Board of Education seats, tentative CVES administrative budget, and meeting with CVES District superintendent Craig King to discuss the superintendent search for Beekmantown Central.

NAC School Board to meet Thursday

ELLENBURG — The Northern Adirondack School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday the District Office conference room.

An executive session associated with the performance history of particular employees and collective negotiations will take place at approximately 6 p.m. The board will reconvene for public session business at about 7 p.m.

Some agenda items include the adoption of the 2013-14 school budget, approval of the administrative budget of Champlain Valley Education Services for the 2013-14 school year and election of the CVES Board members.

CVES budget, board on Peru Central meeting list

PERU — The Peru Central School Board will hold a brief special meeting at 7:15 a.m. Thursday in the Secondary School Community Room.

The session will focus only the consideration of the the administrative budget of Champlain Valley Education Services for the 2013-14 school year and election of the CVES Board members.

No other School Board or School District business will take place.

The public is welcome.


Volunteers sought to plant trees, shrubs

WILLSBORO — A project on the Ben Wever Farm in the Town of Willsboro will create a vegetative buffer along a tributary of the north branch of the Boquet River to stabilize the banks, provide wildlife habitat and eventually provide shade.

The Boquet River Association and Essex County Soil & Water Conservation District seeks volunteers to plant tree and shrub seedlings at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27.

“Reducing the amount of soil loss along the river will promote and protect fisheries habitat as well as decrease the amount of sediment and nutrients directly entering Lake Champlain,” a press release said.

The farm, owned by Shaun and Linda Gilliland, is located at 444 Mountain View Drive (County Route 88). From Willsboro, it is located just beyond Joe Rivers Lane. From Reber, find it just past Nolette Lane.

Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear, bring work gloves, a shovel if possible and plenty of water and snacks.

Altona Republican Party seeking candidates

ALTONA — The Town of Altona Republican Party will hold an open meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the Altona Town Hall.

Candidates are being sought for two Town Council seats up for vote in November, and registered Republicans are being encouraged to attend.

Cleanup set for Village of Dannemora

DANNEMORA — The Village of Dannemora will hold Spring Cleanup on Monday, April 29, May 6, May 13 and May 20.

“All village residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to remove any tree limbs, grass clippings and leaves from their property,” a press release said.

All tree limbs and branches must be less than 3 inches in diameter and less than 4 feet long, stacked at the curbside for pickup by the Public Works Department. All grass clippings and leaves must be placed in clear plastic bags for removal.

No trash, garbage, metal, glass or plastics will be accepted.


Deadline set to pay Village of Dannemora water, sewer bills

DANNEMORA — The last day to pay Village of Dannemora water and sewer rent bills is April 30.

After that date, all unpaid bills will be re-levied to the village tax bill in June.


Dannemora Republican Party seeks candidates

DANNEMORA — The Republican Party of the Town of Dannemora is seeking candidates for the November elections.

A committee meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at the Dannemora United Methodist Church. Positions open are supervisor, highway superintendent, 2 council seats, justice, clerk/tax collector. All potential candidates are urged to attend.

Deadline nears to pay Rouses Point water, sewer

ROUSES POINT — April 30 is the last day to pay outstanding water and sewer bills in the Village of Rouses Point.

After that date, any water and sewer arrears will be added to the tax rolls and collected in June when village taxes are paid.


Town of Dannemora Democrats to choose committee nominations

DANNEMORA — The Town of Dannemora Democrat Party has scheduled an organizational meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Lyon Mountain Fire Station.

Topics to be discussed include positions coming up for election in November, a fundraising event for town candidates and Clinton County Democratic Committee nominations.

Anyone interested in being a candidate or on a committee is asked to attend.


No April meeting setfor Town of Chesterfield Planning Board

CHESTERFIELD — The Town of Chesterfield Planning Board will not meet this month.

The next session is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 21.

DANNEMORA — The Village of Dannemora is looking for a Planning Board member and a Zoning Board of Appeals member.
