The measure was put in place by the Clinton County Health Department for users located from the corner of North Main Street and French Village Road to the end of Water District 1 along all Smith Road including Black Brook Senior Housing.

As of Friday, two check samples from Wednesday and Thursday had tested negative for total coliform bacteria.

Hydrants to be flushed in Saranac Lake

SARANAC LAKE — Hydrant flushing begins April 9 here and continues through April 12.

Department of Public Works Superintendent Jeff Dora said the work will begin in the Park Avenue area and continue through Old Lake Colby section, then gradually progress toward View Street throughout the remainder of the week.

Flushing is preventive maintenance that helps clear water lines and verify system water pressure used for fighting fires.

Residents should anticipate reduced water pressure, as well as some discoloration of the water while flushing hydrants continues during the week, the village said.

If residents experience continued pressure reduction, they should clean the screens on their faucets. If pressure still remains an issue, contact the Department of Public Works at 891-4160.

Also, residents are reminded that the winter parking ban is still in effect.

The DPW will be performing maintenance, including sweeping streets and sidewalks, minor repairs and hydrant flushing.

Vehicles can’t be parked on the street from 2 to 6 a.m. until the ban is lifted on April 15.
