PPR ice bucket challenge 081714
GABE DICKENS/P-R PHOTO Nearly a dozen members of the Clinton County Clerks office partake in the Ice Bucket Challenge behind the Clinton County Government Center in Plattsburgh on Friday evening. County Clerk John Zurlo was originally nominated by coworker Michelle Menard, although the rest of the office decided to join in to help raise funds for the ALS Association, which has raised more than $4 million since July 29. Through the same period last year, the organization received only $1.12 million. Zurlo also nominated three other departments within the Government Center: Real Property, Treasurer and Personnel. ALS, also called Lou Gehrig's Disease, affects the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movements. It can lead to total body paralysis and death.
