Event pairs chefs with growers
PLATTSBURGH — Two sites will host a gathering of chefs and farmers to encourage culinary and agricultural connections, with the goal of seeing more Adirondack-grown food served in local restaurants.
The meetings are open to all regional chefs and growers interested in learning more about making these connections.
Adirondack Harvest will hold the first meeting from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Generations Restaurant in Lake Placid. The second meeting, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Clinton County and the North Country Chamber of Commerce, is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Butcher Block in Plattsburgh.
“At the Lake Placid site, we’ll meet in a casual setting, discuss our successes and challenges, have some refreshments and find out what our farmers are growing and what chefs are looking for,” Adirondack Harvest coordinator Lauire Davis said in a news release.
“Farmers can bring their crop plans and chefs can bring their menus. We’ll have free handouts and booklets. The Plattsburgh meeting will be structured with some guest speakers and a fun ‘speed-dating’ session to match up chefs and farmers. “
