SCS boosters to meet tonight

SARANAC — The Saranac Booster Club will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the large instruction room at Saranac High School.

Ryan takes fifth at Hispanic Games

NEW YORK — Seton Catholic’s Mitchell Ryan finished fifth in the boys’ invitational one mile steeplechase at the Hispanic Games held Saturday at the New Balance Track and Field Center.

Mitchell covered the course in 4 minutes, 52.47 seconds, 14 seconds behind first-place finisher Ross Wightman of Chatham.

The indoor steeplechase, which does not have a water pit like its outdoor counterpart, was one of only three that will be held at the New Balance Track and Field Center this winter.

Seton’s Melissa Whyman, Margaret Champagne and Cheyanne Dobozy, all of whom ran in the girls’ varisty mile, also took part at the Hispanic Games.

Whyman finished 36th out of 294 competitors in 5:31.43. Champagne finished 51st (5:38.43), and Dobozy finished 146th (6:01.92).

Algonquin Chapter of ADK to host three events this week

PLATTSBURGH — The Algonquin Chapter of the ADK will host three separate events this week, beginning Wednesday with a tour of the New Land Trust with Jim King.

Participants should meet at 10 a.m. at building 236.

Also on Wednesday, the group will host a Wednesday Walk About Town.

Participants should meet at 3 p.m. on the steps of City Hall in Plattsburgh. The walk, which will be led by Lynn Valenti, will take approximately an hour.

On Thursday, ADK will host cross-country skiing on the trails of the Visitors’ Interpretive Center at Paul Smiths.

The outing is for all ability levels. There will be a shelter for picnicking and warming up.
