MONTREAL — Jacob Kennedy and Ethan King were major factors Sunday in the Adams Glass Senior Babe Ruth team’s 3-2 and 15-7 doubleheader sweep of the Montreal Rockies.
Kennedy struck out five and allowed four hits in going the distance on the mound for the win in the opener. Kennedy also preserved the victory by getting out of a bases-loaded, nobody out jam in the sixth inning.
Offensively, Kennedy’s run-scoring single in the fourth inning was the margin of difference.
Kevin Sousa also had a big day for Adams Glass offensively with a single and double in the first game.
It was King’s turn in the second contest. He pitched into the fifth inning to get the victory and helped his cause at the plate with two singles, a double and four RBI. Sousa finished the day with five hits.
Sousa added three more hits, including a double, while Luis Pepen-Matos, who caught his first-ever game, chipped in offensively with two singles and a double as Adams Glass broke loose for 11 hits.
Nick Demarais did a good job in relief of King.
Adams Glass improved its record to 4-3-1 and will play the Franklin County, Vt. Senior Babe Ruth team on Tuesday at the Peru junior varsity field. The completion of an earlier suspended game will be played prior to the start of the regular contest.
