New Ellenburg clerk adjusting to the job

ELLENBURG — New Ellenburg Town Clerk Jason Dezan is just back from three days of training in Albany and has learned a lot about the job he was elected to in November 2013.

“I love it,” he said of the work.

Dezan stepped into the shoes of longtime clerk Thelma LaBombard, who retired Dec. 31, and worked from her home.

He is conducting business in the Town Hall in Ellenburg Center and has set the following hours: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

They are subject to change at some point, he said.

The clerk wants to encourage constituents to attend Town Council meetings, which take place the third Tuesday of every month.

The next one is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Town Hall. On the agenda, Dezan said, are financial and budget reports, among other items.

Village of Dannemora discussing EMS program

DANNEMORA — The Dannemora Village Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, to discuss the EMS program.

And another session will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, with the Saranac fire and EMS commissioners, also to talk about the program.

Both are open to the public.

Hunting, fishing licenses available

BEEKMANTOWN — Clinton County residents can buy hunting and fishing licenses at the Town of Beekmantown Town Hall, which now has the new DECALS system up and running.

Hours are 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays through January then 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday starting in February.

Saranac Central Board to discuss negotiations

DANNEMORA — The Saranac Central School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the District Office in Dannemora.

The board contemplates convening an executive session for the purpose of discussing negotiations.
