CCC names chief financial officer

PLATTSBURGH — Clinton Community College has a new vice president for administration and finance.

Lisa Shovan began her stint in the post of chief financial officer today. She replaces Thomas Moffett, who retired at the end of August with 10 years of service.

Shovan joins CCC from the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake, where, for the past four years, she served as the chief financial officer, treasurer and assistant secretary. Before that, she was director of business affairs at Adirondack Community Action Programs in Elizabethtown.

“As an alumna of Clinton Community College, I am very honored and excited to return to the campus as a member of the administrative team,” she said in a news release.

She is responsible for overseeing the college’s $15 million operating budget and will preside over the Business/Purchasing Office, Controller’s Office, Bursar’s Office, Processing, Reception/Mail, Buildings and Grounds and other administrative areas.

The vice president is a member of the President’s Council and is chief adviser for financial affairs. Shovan will also serve as one of the perpetual directors of the Faculty Student Association and is its chief business officer.

“Lisa comes to us with a wealth of leadership experience, having served as the chief financial officer of two other organizations,” Clinton Community College President John E. Jablonski said in a statement. “Her prior work with the Trudeau Institute and Adirondack Community Action Programs has helped her to develop insights and skills that will serve Clinton Community College well.”

Shovan said her “experience in complex not-for-profit sectors allows me to bring unique leadership and skill sets to Clinton. I am passionate about making a difference and look forward to contributing to the college’s continuing success and future endeavors.”

In 1993, she graduated with honors from Clinton Community, where she earned a degree in business administration. She graduated cum laude from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2000.
