Motorcycle accident kills AuSable Forks man

PLATTSBURGH — An AuSable Forks man was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday evening in the town of Plattsburgh.

According to State Police, Roger D. Strong, 59, was driving his 2005 Victory motorcycle west on State Route 3 at 5:18 p.m. when he collided with a black 2004 Ford Taurus at the intersection with Myrons Place.

The driver of the Taurus, Plattsburgh resident Marguerite E. Hart, 62, was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Route 3 from Myrons Place, said Trooper Timothy Connolly of the Plattsburgh State Police, when Strong struck her vehicle.

“She failed to yield the right of way, and he struck the driver side of her car,” Connolly said.

Strong, who was responsive at the scene, according to Connolly, was transported to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh by Morrisonville Rescue Squad.

At the hospital, however, Strong became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m.

He leaves behind a wife, according to Connolly.

“It’s just a tragic situation,” he said.

An autopsy to determine the cause of Strong’s death is scheduled for Monday.

Connolly noted that Hart, who was not injured in the collision, was not impaired or operating her cellphone at the time of the accident.

No tickets had been issued as of Sunday afternoon, and State Police continued to investigate the incident.
