NORTH ELBA — A Keene woman was arrested for allegedly driving drunk with a child in her vehicle.
According to State Police based in Ray Brook, at 6:43 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of a two-car property-damage accident in the parking lot of Desperados restaurant on Saranac Avenue.
The accident, police said, occurred when 42-year-old Joanne L. Baldwin hit another vehicle while attempting to park in the establishment’s parking lot.
She allegedly told officers she couldn’t see the other vehicle, which she was pulling up next to, because the sun was in her eyes.

She was arrested at 7 p.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated, a class U misdemeanor; aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a class E felony under Leandra’s Law; and unsafe backing of a vehicle, an infraction.
Baldwin was arraigned in Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to reappear on Monday, Sept. 30.
