---- — Annual Garden Club Fashion Show set for Thursday

WESTPORT — The Elizabethtown-Westport Garden Club is hosting its 26th-annual Garden Club Fashion Show Luncheon on Thursday, June 20, at the Westport Hotel and Tavern, next to the Depot Theatre.

This year’s theme is “Thyme for Fashion.” Summer outfits will be modeled from the Bessboro Shop in Westport. A social starts at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon. Dessert will be served while attendees view the clothes. Other activities include raffles and door prizes.

Tickets are $22, and can be purchased by calling Martina at 962-8348. Seating is limited; reservations are required.


Chateaugay Farmers Market opens Saturday

MERRILL — The Chateaugay Lakes Farmers Market opens for the season on Saturday, June 22, on the lawn of the Hollywood Inn, Route 374.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday through Labor Day weekend, rain or shine. A variety of products are sold, including in-season vegetables and fruit; annuals, perennials and hanging baskets; cut and potted herbs; cut flowers and bouquets; local honey and maple syrup; locally raised lamb, pork, beef, chicken and duck; baked goods; jams and jellies; and the work of North Country artists.

The annual Arts and Crafts Day will be held Saturday, July 27, in conjunction with the Foothills Arts Association. On that day only, the market will stay open until 3 p.m.

Experts hosting tomato workshop

PERU — Master Gardener volunteers are offering a program about tomatoes at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Peru Free Library.

The experts will cover pruning, staking, common diseases and pests and what to do about them. They will also answer questions.
