WESTVILLE — One person was injured in an accident involving two motorcycles Sunday.

Heather M. Burton, 52, and Adrian V. O’Neil, 49, both of Brockville, Ontario, were headed northbound on State Route 37 riding motorcycles when Burton’s vehicle struck O’Neil’s, causing both drivers to be ejected from their motorcycles, Malone-based State Police said.

The drivers were slowing down to turn onto County Route 4, but Burton wasn’t able to slow down in time because of wet roads, police said.

Burton was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center with minor injuries and O’Neil had no injuries, police said.

No tickets were issued.

PLATTSBURGH — A passerby reported a man who fell from his bicycle in the roadway near South Catherine Street and Flynn Avenue Friday night.

At about 8:44 p.m., Donald Baker, 47, of Plattsburgh, reportedly fell off his bicycle and lost consciousness, Plattsburgh City Police said.

He was transported to CVPH Medical Center with a head injury, police said.

He was treated and later released, according to hospital officials.

CONSTABLE — A Constable woman was recently injured in a one-car motor vehicle accident.

According to Malone-based State Police, Helen L. Leahy, 56, was driving east on State Route 122 in the Town of Constable at 1:47 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, when, for an unknown reason, her vehicle gradually exited the south shoulder of the road.  

Upon doing so, police said, the vehicle struck the guide wires of a NYSEG utility pole, followed by a cement storm drain, before coming to rest in a field. 

Leahy was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone for neck and back pain. 

No tickets were issued, police said. 


SARANAC LAKE — A Saranac Lake man was arrested for falsifying business records Thursday evening.

Nathan J. Desharnais, 27, allegedly checked into and signed out of the Adirondack Medical Center with a false name, Ray Brook-based State Police said.

Desharnais gave false information in order to avoid payment obligations for medical services he received, police said.

A nursing supervisor reported him as a suspicious person after he left the medical center, police said.

Desharnais was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and falsifying business records in the first degree, a felony.

No further information was available.

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was arrested Saturday, June 8, for attempting to break into an apartment on Adirondack Lane.

Aaron Cormier, 27, allegedly tried to enter the apartment with a screwdriver and butter knife but was unsuccessful, Plattsburgh City Police said.

He was charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, criminal trespassing in the second degree and attempted assault in the third degree, all misdemeanors. He was also charged with criminal mischief in the third degree for property damage more than $250, a felony, police said.

He was arraigned the following morning in Plattsburgh City Court.

No further information was available.
