FELONY ARRESTS

SARANAC LAKE — A Saranac Lake man faces a number of charges related to an alleged burglary.

Joseph D. Williams, 27, was arrested by Saranac Lake Police on a warrant at 10:15 p.m. Friday following an investigation that found he and another individual broke into a third person’s residence and removed property that did not belong to them, according to a news release from the department.

Williams, the release said, was also found to be in possession of a hypodermic instrument, for which he did not have a prescription.

He was charged with second-degree burglary; fourth-degree grand larceny; fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property; and fourth-degree conspiracy, all felonies.

In addition, Williams was charged with two misdemeanors, including criminal mischief and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

After being arraigned, he was remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

No further information was available Sunday.

PERSONAL-INJURY ACCIDENTS

CHAMPLAIN — A Champlain teen was injured in a one-vehicle accident Friday morning.

According to Chazy-based State Police, Mark A. Furman, 17, was driving north on Perry Mills Road near the intersection with North Star Road in Champlain at 9:32 a.m., when, he told police, something went wrong with his steering column, dragging his car off the road.

Furman said he tried to correct the direction of his vehicle, and in doing so, over corrected, causing it to exit the roadway once again and crash into a telephone pole, according to police.

He complained of pain to his right leg, neck and shoulder and was transported by Champlain EMS to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Furman was released from the hospital a short time later, police said, and was issued a ticket for unsafe exiting of a roadway.
