Ticket to Work seminar planned

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Workforce Investment Board and OneWorkSource Center will hold an informational meeting on the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program.

Ticket to Work provides benefits to people who receive Social Security disability assistance.

The presentation will include how working would impact Social Security disability benefits and health insurance.

It will also include information about work incentives that Social Security offers beneficiaries to assist in the return to work or in maintaining employment.

Some people who receive Supplemental Security Income because of disability are hesitant to seek employment because of a fear they will lose benefits, according to a news release. The seminar will address those concerns, with details of how much a person can earn and still maintain benefits.

There will also be information on training and other assistance available through a local disability resource coordinator.

The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 26, at OneWorkSource, 194 U.S. Oval, Room 220, Plattsburgh.

The event is free and open to the public.

To register for the event or for more information, contact Disability Resource Coordinator Chelsea Scheefer at 561-0430, Ext. 3032.
