---- — Section VII eighth at state wrestling tournament

PLATTSBURGH — Section VII finished in eighth place out of 12 sections in last weekend’s NYSPHSAA Division II Wrestling Championships at the Times-Union Center in Albany. Section V led the way with 230 points, followed closely by Section VI with 225 and Section IV with 213.5

Section VII, with Peru’s Troy Seymour finishing third at 170 pounds, Peru’s Nick Forget fifth at 126 and Beekmantown’s Gage Bourdeau sixth at 182, ended up with 56 points.

Peru placed 14th in the team standings with 33 points. Section V’s Midlakes was first with 72.5.

Saranac Booster Club meeting tonight at 7 p.m.

SARANAC — The Saranac Booster Club will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at the high school. New members are welcome.

Saranac Cardinals

to hold meeting, sign-ups March 13

SARANAC — The Saranac Cardinals girls’ AAU basketball program will host its informational meeting and sign-ups at 6 p.m. March 13 in the large instruction room in the high school.

Tournament dates, tryout times and hotel information will be handed out at this meeting. All girls in grades five through 11 who are interested in playing must attend, along with a parent.

Zumba party scheduled for Chazy

CHAZY — A Black Light Zumba Party, to benefit the Chazy Central Rural School Harvard Model UN, will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16. There is a $5 suggested donation.

The event will be held in the Chazy School gymnasium. Wear white to glow or black to blend in.

Special Olympics swim practice to begin Wednesday

CLINTONVILLE — The Clinton/Essex Special Olympics swim team will be starting practices at the AuSable Valley Central School pool at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings beginning March 6.

All levels of swimmers are welcome. Practices run through May.

Estus tosses 300 game in senior bowling league

PLATTSBURGH — Lawrence Estus, a 65-year-old bowler in the Guys & Gals Senior League, rolled a 300 game at North Bowl Lanes recently. Estus, who is from Westport, had a 253-214-300-767 series.

PLATTSBURGH — Mike Watts, bowling for North Bowl Restaurant in the Industrial League on Feb. 14 at North Bowl Lanes, tossed a 300 game and finished the evening with a 300-222-213-735 series. Watts carries a 220 average in the league.

On Feb. 19, Watts rolled another 300 while bowling for Adirondack Auto in the Pepsi-Cola Classic. Watts, who has a 223 league average, ended up with a 221-214-300-735 triple.

PLATTSBURGH — Scott Beebie, bowling for Butcher Block in the Industrial League on Feb. 14 at North Bowl Lanes, tossed a 300 game. Beebie, who has a 206 league average, finished with a 300-229-175-704 triple.

Beebie, the anchor man for Butcher Block, struck out for his 300 and then Mike Watts, the anchor for North Bowl Restaurant, also struck out for his 300.

Peryea rolls 800 series at North Bowl

PLATTSBURGH — Jared Peryea, bowling for Recore Enterprises in the Industrial League at North Bowl Lanes on Feb. 14, tossed a 287-257-256-800 series. Peryea has a 221 league average.

Earlier in the week, Peryea rolled his first-ever 300 game.
