Police Log: June 24, 2013


TUPPER LAKE — A man was arrested Saturday on a burglary charge, according to the Tupper Lake Police Department.

Justin Woods, 23, of Tupper Lake, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. and charged with second-degree burglary.

He was arraigned in Tupper Lake Village Court before Justice Young and sent to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $2,500 or $5,000 bond.

No further information was available.

MALONE — A St. Lawrence County man is accused of making fraudulent purchases in Malone. 

According to Malone-based State police, Timothy A. Wilcox, 50, of Norfolk, was arrested at 9:08 a.m. June 18, in connection with having obtained someone else’s credit card information. 

Wilcox used the credit card information to make purchases at local businesses in Malone, as well as at Dick’s Country Store in Churubusco, police said.

He was charged with one count of second-degree identity theft, a felony, and was arraigned before Bangor Town Justice Frederick Boardway.

Wilcox was remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. 

He is scheduled to reappear in court Tuesday. 


WAVERLY — A St. Regis Falls man was injured in a one-car motor-vehicle accident. 

According to Malone-based State Police, Jason A. Clark, 23, was traveling west on State Route 458 in Waverly at about 11:09 p.m. June 19 when his car exited the road, striking a ditch and tree. Clark was traveling too fast for a curve in the roadway, police said. 

He complained of arm pain and was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital in St. Lawrence County.  

No tickets were issued, according to police. 

SCHROON — One person was injured in a motorcycle accident during heavy rain Sunday afternoon.

Daniel M. Smith, 57, of Tacoma, Wash., was traveling east on State Route 74 in the town of Schroon when he lost control of the vehicle because of slippery pavement caused by heavy rainfall, Lewis-based State Police said.
