4½ years set as standard meth sentence

PLATTSBURGH — Four North Country residents and a New York City man originally arrested on drug charges were sentenced recently.

The third man arrested in connection with a clandestine methamphetamine lab in the City of Plattsburgh was sentenced to time in state prison.

Aaron Prim, 35, of Redford, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, in November 2012 and was sentenced by Clinton County Court Judge Patrick McGill to four and one-half years in state prison determinate with two years post-release supervision.

Prim must also provide a sample of his DNA and pay the DNA sample fee as well as a $375 surcharge.

He was received into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision on March 14 and is incarcerated in Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, N.Y., according to prison records.

Kristopher Peryea, 22, of Saranac, and Jaime H. Gaudette, 36, of Plattsburgh, who were arrested with Prim, also received sentences of four and one-half years in prison.

Prim, Peryea and Gaudette were all originally charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree conspiracy and unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, all felonies.

Police believe the three men were making meth in an apartment building at 10 Eleanor Way in the City of Plattsburgh.

Four and one-half years will be the standard sentence for first-time offenders caught making meth, Clinton County Assistant District Attorney Douglas Collyer previously said a news release.


Michael C. Stone, 34, of Plattsburgh, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of controlled substance, a felony, and was sentenced by Clinton County Court Judge Kevin Ryan to eight years determinant and five years post-release supervision as a second-felony offender.

He was ordered to provide a DNA sample and pay mandatory fees and surcharges. Stone’s license was suspended.
