Police: Domestic fight with kitchen knife nets arrest

SARANAC LAKE — An alleged domestic dispute involving a kitchen knife led police to arrest a Saranac Lake woman on Thursday.

Saranac Lake Village Police officers were called to an altercation at the Bloomingdale Avenue home of Tina M. Meddaugh at 10:10 p.m. Thursday.

According to police reports, Meddaugh, 43, allegedly tried to stab another person there with a kitchen knife.

“She also attempted to choke the other party and broke a wireless phone to prevent (the person) from making any calls to the police,” authorities said Friday.

Meddaugh was brought to the Saranac Lake Police Station, processed and then arraigned in Harrietstown Town Court, where she was charged with second-degree attempted assault, a felony, and three misdemeanors: criminal obstruction of breathing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

She was released under Probation Department supervision and is scheduled to reappear in Harrietstown Court at a later date.
