FELONY ARREST
CHAZY -- A man faces a felony charge after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Friday night.
Chazy-based State Police reported Ashley A. Jabaut, 19, of Parker Road, West Chazy told them she went to a party at a residence on O'Neil Road in Beekmantown with her boyfriend, Jason O. Fountain, 27, of Route 22, West Chazy.
Jabaut told police that they were drinking beer supplied by Fountain and that when she walked to the driveway, Fountain struck her in the face.
Police said Jabaut reportedly blacked out and Fountain allegedly drove her in her car to a barn at his residence where she awoke the next morning. She reportedly asked Fountain if he hit her, and he allegedly said yes.
Jabaut then reportedly started to walk toward the barn door when someone pushed her from behind, which caused her to fall against a car. She again became unconscious, and when she woke up, her car was gone.
Jabaut called her father to pick her up, then reported the incident to police. She was later transported to CVPH Medical Center by Chazy EMS. She was treated for scrapes and bruises to her left knee, face and scalp and a strained neck, then released Saturday morning.
Fountain was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, third-degree assault, unlawfully dealing with a minor (for supplying alcohol to an underage person), and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, all misdemeanors.
He was arraigned and remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail/$40,000 bond. He is to reappear in court at a later date.
