Miners, Cardinals wrapped up their respected divisions in CVBL.
PLATTSBURGH -- Jon Dumas pounded out three home runs on the day and the Lyon Mountain Miners wrapped up the National Division championship in the Champlain Valley Baseball League with a 10-3 and 13-7 sweep of the Fourth Ward A's at Lefty Wilson Field on Sunday.
In the first game, Scott Baker went four-for-four and both Jerry Kowalowski and Dumas three-for-three, with Dumas homering once. Kyle Kowalowski also had two hits in support of winning pitcher Dave Waldron.
Justin Mahan accounted for two of the five hits for the A's.
In Game 2, Dumas slugged two more home runs, while Waldron and Joey Painter each added one. Richard Chase, Waldron, Kyle Kowalowski and Dumas all chipped in with two hits each for the Miners (15-3).
Painter struck out 10 in going the distance for the win.
Wayne Wilkins, Matt Lavarnway, Kevin Jessey and Nate Drollette led the A's (3-13) with two hits apiece, with Lavarnway hitting a home run.
