Flashback will revive memories of great local athletes and outstanding team successes.Expos, Adams Glass to play today PLATTSBURGH — The Meron's/Renzi's Expos of the Champlain Valley Baseball League will play the Adams Glass Senior Babe Ruth team today at 5:30 p.m. at Plattsburgh State's Chip Cummings Field.
Brockway Mechanical game postponed
PLATTSBURGH — The Brockway Mechanical at Moriah Senior Babe Ruth baseball game, scheduled for today in Port Henry, has been postponed due to Moriah not having enough players.
Brockway Mechanical will play the Hockey Plus/Loreman's Padres, a Champlain Valley Baseball League team made up of many former Brockway Mechanical players, on Wednesday in Saranac at 5:30 p.m. Players are asked to be at the game by 4:45 p.m.
Lakers 16U team finishes 3-1 in tourney WINOOSKI, Vt. — The Lake Champlain Lakers 16U girls' AAU basketball team finished with a 3-1 record (16-8) over the weekend in the Burlington Invitational at St. Michael's College.
Saturday, the Lakers opened the tournament with a 49-44 victory over the New England Rival as Katrina Garrand and Meg Bowman both scored 14 points. The Lakers then dropped a 42-32 decision to the Massachusetts Premier, with Kelsey Johnson netting seven points and Alex King, six.
Sunday, Bowman tallied 18 points, Johnson 13 and Garrand 12 in the Lakers' 61-51 win over the Massachusetts Frenzy. And, in their final game, the Lakers rallied from an early 17-4 deficit for a 47-43 win over the Vermont Cats as Garrand tallied 20 points and Bowman, 11.
Lakers U12 team wins division
WINOOSKI, Vt. — The Lake Champlain Lakers girls U12 AAU basketball team won its division in the Vermont Lightning Tournament over the weekend, finishing 4-0. The Lakers beat the Massachusetts Jaguars, 34-31, the New Hampshire Bombers, 44-33, the North Central Blaze 34-31, and the Vermont Rebels 30-29.
The team, coached by Kate Duprey, finished the season 16-6. Team Members include Emily Anderson, Olivia Barnaby, Kaitlyn Bowman, Rachel Covey, Grace Kelly, Magan Magee, Caitlin Miller, Maria Remillard Shannon Ryan, and Taylor Saltus.
