Former assistant DA arrested

PLATTSBURGH — A local attorney has found himself on the other side of the law after he allegedly assaulted his wife.

Edward Narrow, a former assistant district attorney for Clinton County, was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court Tuesday morning after he allegedly abused his wife, Carrie, the night before.

The 40-year-old is facing misdemeanor charges of attempted third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child following the alleged domestic incident at his Set Point home.

According to City Court records, police were called to the residence about 9 p.m. after an argument between the Narrows allegedly escalated into violence.

Based on witness statements, Mr. Narrow allegedly began arguing with his 8-year-old stepdaughter, and his wife intervened.

A subsequent disagreement about the couple’s dog is what allegedly prompted Mr. Narrow to shove his wife into a shelving unit.

When she ran to the bedroom for safety, court records indicate, Mr. Narrow allegedly followed her, broke through a door and squeezed her, injuring her rib cage.

“He had a look in his eyes that scared me and made me think he was going to hit me,” Mrs. Narrow said in a statement to police.

She said Mr. Narrow had been drinking and that he threatened her with his connections to local law-enforcement and wound up calling authorities himself, allegedly telling his stepdaughter to watch her mother go to jail.

During the dispute, Narrow also allegedly told the child, “I’m going to hit your mother.”

Mrs. Narrow said the incident was the couple’s first alleged physical confrontation. They got married in August.

Narrow is now in private practice through the Law Offices of Edward Narrow, which has locations in Plattsburgh and Malone.

Narrow was released from custody and is due back in City Court later this week to face the allegations.

A message left at his Plattsburgh office was not immediately returned Tuesday.
