NORTH ELBA — State Police responded to a disturbance on the grounds of Mountain Lakes Academy at 9 p.m. Monday and arrested five students.
The school, a non-secured detention school facility on Riverside Drive in North Elba, serves about 50 males from grades 6 to 11.
The students arrested were:
E Idris Ramos, 16, of Deer Park, charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; second-degree assault, a felony; and misdemeanor charges of fifth-degree conspiracy, second-degree riot and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
E Chris Lewis, 16, of Lake Placid, charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; and fifth-degree conspiracy and second-degree riot, both misdemeanors.
E Casey Sheehan, 16, of Bellport was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; and fifth-degree conspiracy and second-degree riot, both misdemeanors.
E Two unidentified 15-year-olds, one from New York City and one from Saratoga, each charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; and fifth-degree conspiracy and second-degree riot, both misdemeanors.
Two youthful offenders were given tickets to appear in Family Court at a later date.
Three of the students were arraigned at North Elba Town Court and committed to Essex County Jail, police said.
State Police released no further details about the incident Tuesday.
