DICKINSON -- A St. Lawrence County man was seriously injured Friday evening when he lost control of his dirt bike and crashed into a tree.
Jarad Campbell was out for an evening ride on an ATV trail off the Port Kent Road around 6 p.m. when he lost control of his unregistered dirt bike.
As the bike struck an embankment, the 20-year-old Nicholville man was sent flailing into a nearby tree.
Though Campbell was wearing a helmet and protective padding, he suffered a range of injuries in the accident.
Soon after the crash, Dickinson EMS transported him to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where he was being treated for a broken pelvis Saturday.
Canton-Potsdam officials said that due to hospital policy, they could not release his condition Saturday afternoon.
Malone-based State Police said Campbell was ticketed after the accident for having an unregistered dirt bike, failing to produce evidence of insurance and reckless operation.
Officials believe excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
