TUPPER LAKE — Police in Tupper Lake responded to an apparently self-inflicted gunshot injury at 7 Kildare Road Friday morning.
Authorities are still investigating exactly what happened, but the man wounded in the shooting faces criminal charges in conjunction with the incident.
Tupper Lake Police Chief Thomas Fee said a 911 call for an ambulance came in at about 10:15 a.m.
"When we arrived at the residence, we found Glen A. Martin, 49, suffering from a gunshot wound," Chief Fee said in a phone interview.
Martin was immediately brought to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for medical attention.
The injured man has also been charged by police in connection with the gunshot.
"As result of the investigation so far, Mr. Martin has been charged with harassment in the second degree; menacing in the second degree a Class A misdemeanor; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child," Fee said.
Martin remains at the hospital Friday night, where he underwent surgery and is listed in fair condition, said Cheryl Breen Randall, AMC's executive director for community relations.
Tupper Lake police are maintaining a police presence outside his hospital room, Fee said.
No charges have been brought against anyone else in conjunction with the shooting.
"There is no other suspect charged at this time," Fee said.
