WHALEN - A funeral service for Bernard J. Whalen, 84, of Route 3, Morrisonville, who passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013, was held on Monday at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. A Mass of Christian burial was concelebrated by Rev. Scott Seymour, pastor, Rev. John J. Looby, pastor of St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay, Rev. William Reamer, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh, and assisted by Deacon Marvin Connor, Deacon Brian Dwyer. The pall was placed by his children, Bernie Whalen, Donna Whalen-Matkoski, Brenda Whalen-Wood, and Randy Whalen. The crucifix was lovingly placed by his wife, Beulah Whalen. Roses were placed upon his casket by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his K of C chapeau was placed by his grandsons, Brendan and Ryan Whalen. Words of Remembrance were given by his grandchildren. Readings were proclaimed by grandchildren, Corrie Whalen and Mallory Wood and gifts were presented by his granddaughter, Meaghan Wood and great-granddaughter Madyson Whalen. Violinist was his granddaughter Marci Wood. Organist was Ben Reavis and soloist was Mitch Willette. Pall bearers were his grandsons, Barrie Whalen, Corrie Whalen, Matt Matkoski, Ryan Whalen, Brendan Whalen, and son-in-law, William Wood. An honor guard was presented by the Knights of Columbus. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chateaugay. Arrangements have been entrusted into the caring hands of the Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Route 11, Ellenburg.
