GUAY — A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at St. Mary's Church in Champlain, for Helene A. Guay, 97, of Rapids Road in Champlain who passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, Pastor, celebrated the Mass and was assisted by Deacon Noel Hinerth and John Dawson. Organist was Buffy Little, who was accompanied by vocalist Mitch Willette. The pall was placed by Helene's children, Iva Guay, Michael Guay, Vincent Guay, Francis Guay, Gerald Guay, Angele Laurin, Rosalie Tetreault, Cecile Hanfield, Veronica Belvel, Marielle Miller and Julie Baker. Her son, Iva Guay, placed the crucifix. Her nephew, Pierre Guay, offered remarks of remembrance. Her granddaughters Sarah Hanfield and Laura Tetreault read from scripture; and, granddaughters Margaret Belvel and Danielle Guay presented the gifts to the Altar. Pallbearers were grandchildren, Debra Thomas, Dylan Deso, Courtney Miller, Ana Jarrett, Lee Anne Lawrence, Christine Laurin and James Guay. A reception followed the Mass at Knights of Columbus Council #3525 in Champlain. Interment will be at a later date in the parish cemetery on Church Street. Arrangements are in the care of M.B.
