MALONE — Christopher A. Benware, 47, of Malone, N.Y., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, in Brandon, N.Y., as a result of a logging accident.
Born in Malone, May 17, 1966, he is the son of Allen and Brenda Caskins Benware. He graduated from Franklin Academy in 1986.
On July 13, 1991, he was united in marriage to the former Jill M. Cymbrak, at St. Joseph's Church in Malone, by the Rev. Daniel Keefe. She survives.
Chris was self employed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, cooking and woodworking. He spent many hours restoring an old car with his son, Joseph. He was a true family man and attended all of his children's sports events and family functions. He will be remembered by his children as the "Best Dad Ever".
Survivors include his wife, Jill; his father, Allen Benware of Malone; one son, Joseph John Allen Benware; two daughters, Lexie Marie and Sarah Callan Benware, all at home; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Allen and Peggy Benware and Vernon Benware, all of Malone; three sisters and brothers-in- law, Ann and Daniel Borawski of Brushton, N.Y., Janet and Michael Gokey of Malone and Sheila and Jerome Poirier of North Bangor; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Cymbrak of Malone; a brother-in-law, John Cymbrak and his wife, Sue of Malone; two sisters-in-law, Julie Richey and her husband Paul of Malone and Jodie Poupore and her husband Richard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Brenda Benware on May 15, 1998, and his father-in-law, John Cymbrak on Aug. 16, 2004.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at St. Joseph's Church in Malone. Burial will be in St. Helen's Cemetery in Chasm Falls, N.Y. Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.
