---- — Tax-Aide program open now in Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH — The Tax-Aide program, which provides free electronic-filing assistance to low- and middle-income taxpayers for their 2012 tax returns, is up and running now.

The IRS is not accepting returns yet (due to fiscal-cliff issues), but the AARP Foundation program can process returns — just not complete the electronic filing, a press release said.

The walk-in program is set up at the Clinton County Senior Citizens Center, 5139 North Catherine St., Plattsburgh.

The hours through the end of February are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

People must arrive in time to have their returns prepared by the closing times.

There are no Monday and Tuesday hours in March and April and no Saturday hours in April.
