Charles Donovan Cole

TICONDEROGA — Charles Donovan Cole, 83, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born, March 24, 1929 in Putnam Station, N.Y., he was the son of the late Donovan and Irene (Smith) Cole. Mr. Cole was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of his life.

Through the years, Mr. Cole was employed as a carpenter for Local Union # 1042. He also worked on the Alaskan Pipeline, and was a former Highway Superintendent for the town of Ticonderoga.

He was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks # 1494 of Ticonderoga, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was pre-deceased by one daughter, Brenda Ann Fleming; and three siblings, Elizabeth Higgs, Mitchell Cole and Roger Cole.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joan M. (Hebert) Cole; two children, Joan M. Fuller of Ticonderoga and Charles R. Cole of Ticonderoga; and three sisters, Jackie Rafferty of Crown Point, Patricia Berube of Putnam Station, and Phyllis Schwerdtfeger of Columbus, N.C. He is also survived by four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
