Organizations and groups who meet on a regular basis, weekly or monthly, must submit a new announcement for Community Calendar for 2014. It must include the day of week and specific dates; time of the meeting or event; name of the organization or group; and exact location, including street address, town and/or name of building, if applicable. Meetings must be open to everyone in order to be listed. Send notices to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Press-Republican events calendar appears every Friday. Be sure submissions reach the Press-Republican newsroom at least one week before the calendar in which they need to appear.

Celebrate the History of the Winter Games. 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. High Peaks Resort, 2384 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid. Celebrate the upcoming excitement of Sochi, Russia, and history of the Winter Games, with antiques appraisers, storytelling from regional historians and museum curators, show and tell your stories and collectibles, games, photos.
Legion Bikers Big Bike Drop. American Legion Post 1619, 219 Rand Hill Road, Morrisonville. Tickets go on sale through March 1 to guess when the bike will drop through the ice at the legion pond. $5 per ticket available at the legion.
SAT., JAN. 18
Benefit for Drake Family. 4 to 6 p.m., American Legion Post 504, AuSable Forks. Spaghetti dinner, live auction, music and bake sale to benefit Howard and Amy Drake, who lost all in a structure fire in AuSable Forks. Auction at 7 p.m. Spaghetti dinner, $8 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under and $5 for seniors. Takeouts available.
