MALONE — The Huskies jumped out to an 8-0 lead and then held on for the win in their season opener.

Malone scored four runs in the first and four more in the third to take what seemed to be a comfortable lead. The Blue Devils got on the board in the fourth and made it 8-3 in the fifth. Then they pulled close with four runs in the sixth. But Franklin Academy held them off the board in the final inning.

“We actually kind of benefitted from Breton Larose struggling with his command early — he walked some early — and we were able to hang on toward the end,” Franklin Academy coach Tim Lamay said.

Alex Johnson led the huskies with two hits, and Jake Perry hit a double.

Larose was relieved in the third and took the loss for Ogdensburg. Kinnon Larose hit a triple.
