LAKE PLACID — The sixth-annual Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll, set for Dec. 6, 7 and 8, offers new events and activities.
”At a time when many flock to the ‘big box’ stores,” a press release said, “Lake Placid is prepped and ready to open its village doors for a festive weekend of boutique village shopping, fun family events, arts and entertainment in an authentic winter wonderland.”
New this year are “The Nutcracker” ballet at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts; new children’s crafts, including ornament making; Super Sunday at Whiteface Mountain; and a skating show at the Olympic Center.
The Holiday Stroll, the release said, is designed with families and couples in mind.
Here are highlights:
▶ The Jingle Bell 5K Walk/Run benefiting Adirondack Health’s “Fit for Life,” starts at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7,
▶ Traditional Yule Log Hunt at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (meet at the intersection of Saranac Avenue and Main Street) and Christmas tree lighting at 5 p.m.
▶ Free showings of “The Polar Express” at the Palace Theatre at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
▶ Free holiday story time, craft making and candy house making.
▶ Free wine tastings, gift wrapping and local store promotions.
▶ The arrival of Santa via fire truck on Main Street, noon to 1 p.m. Saturday in Mid’s Park.
