Red Storm edge Ti; Hornets beat NAC in 8th

TICONDEROGA — Brittany Woodruff accounted for three hits and Jordy McDougall added two, including a double, to lead Saranac Lake past Ticonderoga 9-7 in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball on Thursday.

Brittany Tschirhart pitched six innings, and Nicole Viscardo entered in the seventh for the save. Kylie Austin was the losing hurler.

Katie Palandrani paced Ticonderoga with three hits, including two doubles, and Sadie Hamel went 2-for-2.

The Red Storm jumped in front with six runs in the top of the first inning. The Sentinels eventually worked their way back to within 7-5, but Saranac Lake pushed across two in the sixth for some breathing room.

ELLENBURG — The Bobcats rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, only to have the Hornets prevail with two in the top of the eighth.

Karlie Neale, Kolbi Lyon and Cieara Duquette swung the big bats for Plattsburgh. Neale finished with a single, triple, home run and four RBI. Lyon four hits and four RBI, and Duquette added three hits and three RBI. Also helping out offensively was Lauren Stanley with three hits.

Jamie Bedard was the winning pitcher, and Alexis Boulrice took the loss.

Magan Magee paced Northern Adirondack with two singles and a triple, while Alysha Warren and Taylor Durnin added two singles apiece.

CLINTONVILLE — Brette Campbell led the way offensively for the Chiefs with a single and two doubles.

Winning pitcher Kourtnie Campbell helped her cause with three singles, while Summer Gillespie added a double and single, and Ashley Terry had a triple.
