Mose N. Caron


---- — PLATTSBURGH — Mr. Mose N. Caron, 96, a resident of Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with family by his side.

He was born in Clayburg, on June 20, 1917, the son of the late Alfred and Julia Caron.

In his early years, Mose worked at Imperial Paper Mill and with his brother Andrew, building houses and working in the construction industry. Then, Mose worked on the Plattsburgh Air Force Base for many years and retired at the age of 62. Upon his retirement, he and his wife Katherine lived at thefamily camp in Peru during the summers and in Punta Gorda, Fla. during the winters. During the Plattsburgh Sesquicentennial in 1964, he was one of the Fuzzy Foxes and had lots of memorable times constructing the float for the

big parade.

During his snowbird years in Florida, Mose was a member of the Punta Gorda, Fla. Knights of Columbus and Brothers of the Elks. After his wife Katherine's death and his new marriage to Dorothy (Newell) Caron in 2001, he remained inPlattsburgh all year round. He was also a Life Member of American Legion Post 20 and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 13127.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his children and their spouses, Gary and Carol (Mazaitis) Caron, Arthur and Arlene (Chase) Caron, Russell and Carol (Mott) Caron, Margaret (Caron) Stewart and Christopher Stewart, Nina Williams; his sisters, Velma Gainer and Ferna Facteau; his step children, Priscilla and Ivan Stehnjak, Loyal and Diane Caron, Deborah Caron, Wayne and Lois Caron; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Katherine L. (Russell) Caron in 2000; three daughters, Louise, Eileen and Julie; a son, Robert Mose; his brothers; Alfred, Andrew, Wilfred, and his sisters; Lydia (Mary) Bradley; and Gertrude Demerse.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Our Lady of Victory Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru.
