CHURUBUSCO — Arthur J. Premo, 93, of the Gagnier Road, Churubusco died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Born in Churubusco on Nov. 22, 1919, he was the son of Theodore and Virginia (Venette) Premo.
He was married to Doris Gagnier on July 5, 1947 in St. Philomena Church, Churubusco. She predeceased him on Dec. 26, 2001.
Mr. Premo graduated from Chateaugay Central School with the Class of 1939. He owned and operated the Premo Family Farm in Churubusco, where he was a dairy farmer and potato grower for many years. He was a Councilman for the Town of Clinton for six years, Deputy Supervisor and Town Assessor. He was also secretary/treasurer of the Burke Cooperative. Mr. Premo was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco.
Mr. Premo is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Premo of Churubusco, Paul and Donna Premo of Churubusco; seven daughters and six sons-in-law, Angela and Donald Degon of Constable, Martha and Gary Cayea of Ellenburg Depot, Kathryn Premo of Winston-Salem, N.C., Rosemary and Ken Green of Chateaugay, Mary Lou and Raymond Tucker of Burke, Maggie and Mike Carter of Altona, Patricia and Joe Zuchowski of Schenectady; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Victor Premo; eight sisters, Mary Louise, Victoria Colton, Albena Premo, Flora Dumont, Cecilia Wenski, Bernadette Johannes, Aurora Robinson and Theresa Primeau.
There will be private calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, April 20, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Rev. Howard Venette officiating.Entombment will take place at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens, Ellenburg Depot. Donations in his memory may be made to Churubusco Fire Dept.
