WILMINGTON — Maria T Corvelli, 62, of Springfield Rd, passed away Tuesday Aug. 14, at home surrounded by her loving husband Steve, her son Anthony, sister-in-law Bette and niece Jill, after a short battle with cancer. She was born August 11, 1950, in Pecs, Hungary, the daughter of Tibor and Elizabeth Szeles.
She retired with her husband from Closter, N.J. to Wilmington, N.Y. in 1999. She worked many years as a floral designer.
She had a great love for the Adirondacks and spent her time gardening, hiking and working with animals of all shapes and sizes. She adored her horse, Atticus and the wonderful rides they took and her best friend, Zip, an Australian Cattle dog. She was a member of the Mountain Artists of N.Y. and loved to work with the children at the Wilmington Youth Center. She volunteered as a helper at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge and Rehab in Wilmington.
Survivors include her loving husband and best friend of 41 years, Stephen J Corvelli, son Anthony S Corvelli and his wife Arlene and daughter Victoria of Dumont, N.J., her mother Elizabeth Szeles of Closter, N.J., brother Ted Szeles of Middle Hope, N.Y., brother Rick Szeles of Closter, N.J. and many brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Her loving father, Tibor Szeles and her mother and father-in-law Joseph and Ann Corvelli predeceased her.
At her request, there will be no funeral service or calling hours. She will be cremated.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge and Rehab in Wilmington or the Wilmington Fire and Rescue Service.
