LAKE PLACID — A Lake Placid man was charged with a felony following an alleged domestic dispute Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Lake Placid Police Department, Joshua W. Galloway, 28, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, and second-degree harassment, a violation.
Police said Galloway had unwanted physical contact with a person who has an order of protection against him.
He was arraigned in Village Court and sent to the Essex County Jail without bail.
HEMMINGFORD, Que. — Several North Country fire departments were called to help battle a blaze in Canada Wednesday afternoon.
According to Clinton County Fire Control, departments from Champlain, Rouses Point, Ellenburg Depot and Mooers assisted firefighters in battling a blaze at a warehouse in Hemmingford.
The fire started around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, but no other details were available.
North Country fire departments are part of a mutual aid system that includes covering nearby Canadian towns. Canadian fire departments are available, in turn, to help local departments.
