WORCESTER — Flossie Hill Paulin, 87, passed away peacefully, May 14, 2014, with her daughters at her side at Fox Hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1927, to Medi Palmater Hill in Chichester. She graduated from Schenevus Central School. On Nov. 5, 1947, she married Harry Paulin.
She worked at Faxton St Luke's Hospital in Utica as a nurses aide, Grants Store, Oneonta Dress, and Sanyo in Oneonta. Flossie was very adapt to many crafts - painting, knitting, crocheting, needlework, etc. She made and gave to many people, including blankets for the Shriners and for many years made mittens and hats for children. She donated them to the Yardstick Mitten Tree in Cobleskill, anonymously, because she did them for her love of the less fortunate and not for recognition. She was an avid tennis fan and enjoyed country music. Her closest companions were her Siamese cats over the years.
Through her life, Flossie was blessed not only by her natural children, but she also lovingly accepted many people into her life who referred to her as "mom" or "gram." In her garden of life, she not only fostered the seeds of love she planted, but also of the ones that came her way.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Gary) Abel of Cadyville, Carol Effner of Worcester; a sister, Esther (Frank) Sterns of Alburquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Helen (William) Anteman, Edna (John) Struckle, Ruth (Russell) Fowler, Nellie (Morris) Schrader; a brother, Donald Hill; and a great-great-grandson, Damon Louis Moore.
There will be no funeral services, upon her request.
