WEST SAND LAKE — James "Jim" M. DeFayette, 50, of West Sand Lake, N.Y., went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013, following a lengthy illness. Born, raised and educated in Plattsburgh, N.Y, he was the son of Jane Stone DeFayette of Plattsburgh, and the late George DeFayette. He was a graduate of St. John's Catholic School.
Having moved to the Capital Region, he worked briefly at WGNA Radio, where he met Joanne "Joie" Bellanger in 1987. He began a career as a professional truck driver until his retirement about a year ago.
Jim and Joie were married on Oct. 15, 1994, and were gifted with three sons, Nathan, Jared and Owen. Jim exhibited a wonderful love for life, which he reflected in his love for his wife, children, family, friends, and especially His Lord Jesus Christ. His life affected many in positive ways.
He was a member of the Loudonville Community Church.
In addition to his wife, mother and sons, Jim is survived by two brothers, the Rev. Jeffrey DeFayette of Maryland, and Jerry DeFayette of Morrisonville, N.Y.; along with several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Loudonville Community Church, 374 Loudon Road (Route 9 and Crumitie Road) Loudonville, NY 12211, with the Rev. Jeff Robinson, Pastor, officiating. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of Jim DeFayette be given to the Loudonville Community Church, at the above address.
