PERU — Kyle McCarthy went 4-for-4, including a double, a triple and four RBI, to lead the Adams Glass Senior Babe Ruth team to a 19-2 rout of Mount Mansfield, Vt. in Vermont league play on Thursday.
Luis Pepen-Matos went 4-for-5, including a triple, while Kevin Sousa added a triple and a single for the Peru-based team. Nick Demarais contributed two singles, and Jacob Kennedy and Kyle Sprague each added a single in a 14-hit attack.
Adams Glass (12-6-1) scored three runs in the first inning and then broke it open with seven in the second for a 10-0 advantage.
“It was a one-sided game to say the least, but our hitters stayed focused and showed good discipline at the plate,” Adams Glass coach John Demarais said. “We didn’t get sloppy.”
Adams Glass got another solid pitching performance from Kennedy, who allowed two hits, walked three and struck out six in going the distance for the win. Kennedy now has a 10-0 combined pitching record while pitching for Chazy during the high school baseball season and now Adams Glass.
Mount Mansfield, which dropped an 8-0 home decision to Adams Glass the day before, had just eight players at Thursday’s game.
