Community Calendar: April 5, 2013

The Press-Republican events calendar appears every Friday. Be sure submissions reach the Press-Republican newsroom at least one week before the calendar in which they need to appear. 

Items should be brief, listing the time, date, place, prices, a contact number and any other essential information.

All items in the calendar must be open to the public.

“The United States of ALEC.” 7 p.m. Film, followed by discussion. SUNY Plattsburgh, Yokum 200. American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) film presented by Common Cause of New York and hosted by professor Kurtis Hagen of the SUNY Plattsburgh Philosophy Department. Susan Lerner, executive director of Common Cause, will introduce the film and answer questions about it. Lerner states: “ALEC is a corporate lobby front group masquerading as a public charity on the taxpayers’ dime. New Yorkers shouldn’t have to subsidize ALEC’s agenda to limit voting rights, undermine our public schools and weaken laws protecting our environment.”

Rummage Sale. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Three Steeples United Methodist Church, 491 Route 11, Champlain.


Book Sale. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sherman Free Library, Port Henry.

“Honor Flight - One Last Mission.” 7 p.m. SUNY Plattsburgh Hawkins Hall Auditorium. Movie, $6 adults, $3 children under 16. Tickets available at the Angell College Center. 

Music with Julie. 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Wells Memorial Library, Upper Jay. Rhythm instruments, motion songs, storytime for ages 3 to 6.
