Teams sought for Literacy Challenge

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary and the Press-Republican present the 21st-annual Literacy Challenge starting at noon Saturday at Champlain Centre mall.

The Peru Lions Club, 2012 and five-time champion, will defend its title at the live quiz show.

Registered teams and sponsors include AuSable Valley High School, AuSable Valley Teachers, BHSN, Coca-Cola, Champlain Valley Quilters Guild, Chazy Lions, Clinton Community College, Plattsburgh Noon Kiwanis, NYSRTA- Mooers Knights of Columbus, Peru Lions, Plattsburgh High School, Plattsburgh Teachers, Knights of Columbus No. 255, Noon Rotary Club of Plattsburgh, Sunrise Rotary and Woodmen of the World.

Proceeds benefit the Literacy Volunteers of Clinton County, which serves more than 100 adults each year through one-on-one tutoring in reading and writing, math, English language, computer and civics/citizenship preparation. It serves children through family literacy activities including a free book

program.
