Chazy Flyers teams seeking state titles

CHAZY— The Chazy Flyers team will be competing in this weekend’s NYSAHA Tier 3 Bantam hockey championship in Amherst. They (39-10-2) will open the eight-team tournament at 11:30 a.m. today against the Olean Arrows.

The Flyers will then play Millbrook, which beat them in the Peewee Major championship game two years ago, at 6 a.m. Saturday. Game 3 will be against the defending champion Onondaga Thunder at 5 p.m. The top four teams will advance to Sunday’s semifinals.

Chazy has played an aggressive “A” schedule this season in preparation for the State tournament. The Flyers went 5-0 in the Northern Zone sectional tournament in Tupper Lake two weeks ago.

The Chazy Peewee Major team also qualified for the state tournament. In addition, the

Chazy Lady Flyers U19 team will host the New York State Championship at Scotts’ Memorial Rink this weekend. The team is the defending state champion, and has a roster made up of many of the same girls that were members of the Beekmantown Eagles Upstate NY championship team.
