United Way accepting membership applications

PLATTSBURGH — The United Way of the Adirondack Region is accepting applications from  agencies and organizations for membership in the State Employees Federated Appeal for 2014.

Applicants may obtain the necessary paperwork from the New York State SEFA website, www.sefanys.org. A digital application needs to be submitted electronically, and then a printable version of the application will be displayed.

The printable application will include a deadline and a list of required documents necessary to send to the Statewide SEFA Council. All applicants must be designated 501C3 not-for-profit organizations and show proof of certification.

All applications and required documentation must be received by SEFA at close of business on Jan. 15, 2014. Postmark dates will not be accepted.

Essex County sets hearing on tentative budget

ELIZABETHTOWN — Essex County has prepared a tentative budget for the 2014 fiscal year and a public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Supervisor’s Chambers, Essex County Courthouse, Elizabethtown.

Copies of the budget are available at the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at the Essex County Government Center between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Festival of Trees to benefit ARC Foundation

PLATTSBURGH — The ARC Foundation is holding its annual Festival of Trees fundraiser at Champlain Centre mall.

The trees will be decorated starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the display area in front of Gander Mountain.

Radio station WOKO will be broadcasting live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The judges will start their work at 12:15 p.m., the blue ribbons will be awarded around 12:30 p.m., with the winners announced live on the radio.

Members of the public can buy chances to win the trees, with proceeds going to the Advocacy and Resource Center Foundation.
