DESMARAIS - A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, from St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain for Rita T. Desmarais, 81, of Wilfred King Road in Chazy Lake, who died Saturday, Feb. 8, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Her son, Rev. Garvin Desmarais celebrated the Mass. The Most Rev. Terry R. LaValley, Bishop of Ogdensburg presided. Rev. Ted Crosby, Rev. John Looby, Rev. Raymond Mareau, Rev. William G. Reamer, Rev. Albert Hauser, Rev. Doug Lucia, Rev. Daniel Keefe, Rev. William Muench and Rev. John Murphy con-celebrated the Mass. Also assisting were Deacons Francis Siskavich and John Levison. Organist was Bernard Grogan with the parish choir. Annette Manor, Sally Canning, Arlene Loughan and Cortney Desmarias placed the pall. Daniel Desmarais placed the crucifix. Jessica Daniels and Melissa Cayea read from scripture. Danielle Salmon and Ashley Canning presented the gifts. A poem was read Randy Manor. Pallbearers were Jared Patnode, Justin Patnode, Adam Canning, Jordan Manor, Silas Martin and Joshua Vann. Burial will be in St. Edmund's cemetery in Ellenburg at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (518) 561-3980.
