FELONY ARRESTS

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was arrested Tuesday on criminal contempt charges.

At about 1 p.m., a Plattsburgh City Police officer saw Gary Burgoyne, 31, in a vehicle with his girlfriend, Plattsburgh City Police Lt. Scott Beebie said.

The officer knew Burgoyne by sight and knew a stay-away order of protection was in place prohibiting Burgoyne from being in the presence of his girlfriend, Beebie said.

The officer confirmed that the order was valid and arrested Burgoyne on Saranac Street in the City of Plattsburgh, the lieutenant said.

Burgoyne was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony.

He was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and was sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.

Burgoyne will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

Dustin A. Provost, 28, of Plattsburgh allegedly stole a purse out of a car parked in Salerno Plastics Corporation parking lot in Plattsburgh, according to Plattsburgh-based State Police.

Provost then allegedly gave a credit card from the purse to Lance J. Layhee, 46, of Morrisonville, police said.

Layhee allegedly used the card to make a purchase, police said.

The incident was reported to police earlier this month, according to a State Police blotter entry.

Provost was arrested June 14 and was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (credit card), a felony.

He was arraigned in Plattsburgh Town Court and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

Layhee was arrested June 13 and was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (credit card), a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
