PLATTSBURGH — Janice A. Pope, 80, of Hillcrest Ave., Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home. She was born in New York City on March 12, 1933, a foster daughter of Samuel and Constance Johnson.
Janice grew up in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. She moved to Plattsburgh, where she was a border at Our Lady of Victory Academy and graduated from there in 1951. She then entered the convent and became a Sister of Charity of St. Louis until 1983. While a member of the order of the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis, Janice graduated from the John W. Harold Educational Services as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Sacred Heart Nursing Home.
Janice was predeceased by her foster parents. She is survived by a sister Elinor Rodriguez and her husband Stanley; her nephews, Eric and John Rodriguez; and niece Sharri Rodriguez; her grandnephews, Ricardo and Charlie Rodriguez all of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and her very close friend Shirley Cramer of Plattsburgh.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
