BEEKMANTOWN — Zack Towle, Keyden Costin and Malo Valerian scored first-half goals Thursday afternoon and Beekmantown advanced to the Section VII Class B boys' soccer semifinals with a 5-1 win over Saranac Lake.

Towle opened the scoring at 4:13, Costin tallied on a header at 6:32 and Valerien scored on a breakaway at 28:46.

Matt Martin cut Saranac Lake's deficit to 3-1 at 11:15 of the second half.

But Chris McIlroy tallied at 24:13 and Towle, with his second goal of the game, at 26:38 to complete Beekmantown's scoring.

The Eagles held an 18-8 shot advantage. Brett Smith made eight stops for Beekmantown in net.

Mark Price assisted on three of the Eagles' goals.

"Our defense played a good game," said Beekmantown coach Tony Perez. "Saranac Lake was very aggressive to the ball. They had some nice opportunities, but our defense came through again.

"I was especially proud of Mark Price. He's a junior varsity kid we just moved up for (Thursday's) game."

CHAMPLAIN — Northeastern Clinton got goals from four players in blanking the Patriots.

Dylan Carter and Jamie Davison scored in the first half, while Brett Bosley and Fred Hapgood, on a penalty kick, tallied in the second half of play.

Davison, Devan Poissant and Sean Harrigan picked up assists.

The Cougars outshot AuSable Valley, 24-4, with Casey Manor in net for the shutout with three saves. Jeremy Wood stopped 17 shots for the Patriots.

"We didn't come out with stellar play," said NCCS coach Dale Hawksby. "We were holding back — I don't know why. But, we were not as aggressive as we should have been.

"In the second half, we were a different team. We played better, with better passing.

"(Dylan) Carter played really well up front and hustled. Branden LaMere, at outside halfback, also played well. Curtis Loreman played well for them at fullback and Sean Pulsifer up front."
